Town Centre
Fortescue Road NRR and Bellway aim to broaden the existing employment base of the town centre and attract new employers. It is essential that the economy is supported as the manufacturing sector, historically important to Norton Radstock, is in decline and this decline will have an impact on the local economy.
The NRR land cannot restructure the economy of Radstock by itself and Norton Radstock has some capacity on industrial estates with additional land available for employment uses at Peasedown St John.
The proposals benefit the economy by:
- Injection of multi million pound investment into the town
- Creating a more coherent mixed use town centre - facilitating future inward investment
- Building upon the existing town core by creating new retail/commercial services and offering new business opportunities
- Providing an additional Museum/Heritage satellite facility
- Creation of 19 temporary construction jobs
- Creation of 42 new additional full time permanent jobs
- Additional spend annually in the local economy of £2 million
